Chapter 1: The Prowling Bear

It was a dark and stormy night on the ranch. The wind howled outside, and the rain beat down on the roof. Hank the Cowdog lay in his bed, trying to sleep. But he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

Suddenly, Hank heard a noise outside. He jumped up and ran to the window. He looked out into the darkness, but he couldn't see anything.

"What was that?" Hank whispered.

Drover, Hank's trusty sidekick, came up beside him. "I don't know," he said. "But it didn't sound good."

Hank and Drover went outside to investigate. They walked around the ranch, but they couldn't find anything.

"Maybe it was just the wind," Hank said.

"Or maybe it was a bear," Drover said.

Hank laughed. "A bear? On our ranch? That's ridiculous."

But Drover wasn't so sure. He had heard stories about bears coming down from the mountains in search of food.

"We should keep our eyes open," Drover said.

Chapter 2: The Bear's Tracks

The next morning, Hank and Drover went out to check the fence line. They wanted to make sure that there were no holes that a bear could get through.

As they were walking, they came across some tracks in the mud. The tracks were big and round, with sharp claws.

"Bear tracks!" Drover exclaimed.

Hank examined the tracks carefully.

"Yep," he said. "These are definitely bear tracks. And they're fresh."

Hank and Drover followed the tracks through the forest. They came to a clearing, and there, in the middle of the clearing, was a bear.

The bear was big and brown, with a shaggy coat and sharp claws. It was standing on its hind legs, and it was looking around with its keen eyes.

"Well, there it is," Hank said.

"Let's get out of here," Drover said.

Chapter 3: The Chase

Hank and Drover turned and ran. The bear saw them running, and it gave chase.

Hank and Drover ran as fast as they could. They dodged and weaved through the trees, but the bear was gaining on them.

Just when they thought they were going to be caught, they came to a river. Hank and Drover jumped into the river and swam to the other side.

The bear hesitated at the edge of the river. It didn't want to get wet.

Hank and Drover took advantage of the bear's hesitation and ran to safety.

Chapter 4: The Capture

Hank and Drover went back to the ranch and told Slim about the bear. Slim was worried about the bear, and he decided to call the game warden.

The game warden came out to the ranch and set a trap for the bear. The trap was a big cage with a piece of meat inside.

The bear was hungry, and it couldn't resist the bait. It went into the cage, and the door slammed shut behind it.

The game warden took the bear away, and Hank and Drover were relieved to have it gone.

Epilogue

Hank and Drover were heroes on the ranch. They had saved the day by capturing the prowling bear.

Slim gave Hank and Drover a big steak dinner, and they all celebrated their victory.

Hank and Drover were proud of themselves, but they knew that they couldn't have done it without each other.

They were a team, and they were unstoppable.
